The Riviera of the Emilia Romagna region offers those who want to spend active holidays at the seaside or in the hinterland the possibility to have fun while keeping fit.
The 110-km-long coastline stretching from the Lidos of Comacchio to Cattolica offers the possibility to play every kind of sport; beyond the traditional "beach sports", the 1,430 bathing establishments of the Riviera hosts well-equipped fitness centres and many opportunities to keep fit: from free climbing to kite surfing, from golf to capoeira, the Brazilian blend of martial art, game and dance.
The Riviera also offers those who are interested in keeping fit while relaxing the possibility to do aerobics and yoga. There are 13 tourist harbours featuring
5200 berths and from April to September both sailing and nautical clubs give people the possibility to familiarize with boats, catamarans or surf boards. The Riviera also offers a wide range of bike itineraries for cycle tourists, as well as hotels featuring targeted services.
The Riviera also hosts both national and International sports events. Misano Adriatico is home to the Moto GP and Superbike Motorcycling World Championships; Cesenatico is the point of departure of the famous "Nove Colli" (Nine Hills) bicycle race which attracts thousands of contestants flocking there from all over Europe; Rimini hosts the famous Rimini Wellness, the Paganello Frisbee World Championship and the sailing event known as BluRimini.
